A local connection

Lorraine has grown up in and around the Norwood area. Her Velyka Babusya (great grandmother) lived on 95th Street, close to Norwood Centre.

Lorraine remembers being with her grandmother in her small blue kitchen; "pick up - pick up" her grandmother would say, with Lorraine hoping that she could help to fold the dozens of trays of perogies that they had made together. She remembers walking hand-in-hand with her dad, afterward, to grab a treat from the "Arden’s Varimart" store just down the street from Norwood Centre.

Lorraine has been a part of the local arts scene for many years, as a long-standing art instructor and running Family Art Night at the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts, and Crystal Kids After School program and Community Art Night for over 16 years. Lorraine also taught art, many years ago, with the youth at Norwood Centre. Lorraine is thrilled to be back to add some life and colour to Norwood Square Park.
